UK letterhead Legal Requirements
Occasionally, businesses show all their concern for the design of the printed letterhead and overlook the important legal requirements for what must be displayed on a business letterhead for a UK Limited Company.
We do not offer legal information on what must be included and suggest you seek professional advice for your business type. Official Information can be viewed here.
Make sure your business letterhead content is correct from the start to avoid costly artwork changes and re-prints.
You must include:
- your company’s name
- the company’s registered number
- the company’s registered office address
- the country of registration (England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland)
- the fact that it’s a limited company (the company’s full name including ‘Limited’ or ‘Ltd’)
- If you want to include directors’ names, you must list all of them.
State if you are trading under a different name to that of the registered company featured.
Many companies use their printed letterhead for invoices and estimates. Therefore, you must display the VAT number if the company is VAT registered.
